About Mobile Human Factors LLC

The Mobile Human Factors logo on the front of the mobile facility.

Mobile Human Factors was founded by Cade Bartlett and specializes in usability studies for in-home use medical devices. While providing common medical human factors researching and consulting services, Mobile Human Factors aims to do so in a way that reduces issues prevalent in the industry (such as experimental artifacts due to low fidelity simulated home-use environments and recruiting bias in rare populations due to facility location) while still providing the benefits of a dedicated study space such as audio/video recording and a controlled environment (see Mobile Facility). Mobile Human Factors also offers human factors services outside its area of specialty.

Cade is a user advocate, improving performance and safety through good design. Since 2012 Cade has gained experience with designing, conducting, analysis, reporting, and presenting of studies, with experience in the medical device space since 2017. Cade enjoys approaching problems with innovation, attention to detail, and teamwork. Cade has a wide background of technical and other skills and knowledge, from formal and informal sources. Cade is a resourceful DIY guy and a motivated learner: if his current knowledge and skill is insufficient for the task at hand he quickly learns what he needs and is not afraid to branch out. Cade's breadth of knowledge allows him to see complex systems in unique ways, promoting better designs and safer interactions.

In 2015 Cade obtained his M.S. in Applied Psychology from Arizona State University, where he previously earned his B.S. in Applied Psychology. While there he performed teamwork studies for unmanned aerial systems with Dr. Nancy Cooke. After additional coursework, Cade worked with Insight Product Development (now Nemera) as a Human Factors Engineer, designing, conducting, and analyzing studies on medical devices (primarily those intended for home use). In 2022 Cade began work as a Human Factors Scientist at Exponent, continuing to provide consultation services for prospective medical products. Though Cade specializes in medical products, he believes human factors principles are broadly applicable and is willing to apply them where needed.
